Love Your Mountain Day was an annual event which we organised and hosted for nine years 2006-2014. The aim of the day was to promote greater respect and appreciation for the maunga. We closed the maunga to traffic so that visitors could enjoy walking all around Maungawhau and through Government House grounds and Eden Garden, which opened free of charge.
The car-free day was supported by local businesses and included live music, a wish tree, workshops and guided walks focussing on the maunga’s history, geology and ecology.
